Sometimes a Different Path Makes All the Difference

Therapy for Teens and Young Adults in Farnham, Surrey

Not keen on the idea of sitting in a room talking about your feelings? That’s okay. Therapy doesn’t have to look like that.

We could walk and talk amongst the trees, take our mountain bikes into Bourne Woods, or meet online if getting out feels like too much right now.

You don’t have to know what to say, explain everything, or even be sure that therapy is for you.

We’ll start wherever you are and find a way forward together.

When Life Feels Like Too Much…

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming. Maybe your mind won’t stop worrying, you’re exhausted from trying to keep everyone happy, or you feel like nobody really understands what’s going on inside.

Perhaps you’re angry, anxious, lonely, stuck, or just tired of being told what you should do.

Or maybe you can’t quite put your finger on what’s wrong.

You might have a part of you that wants things to change, and another part that doesn’t want anyone getting too close.

All of that is welcome here.

You don’t have to pretend you’re okay, and you don’t have to share anything before you’re ready.

We can take our time, get to know each other and begin to make sense of things together.

Walk and Talk

Sometimes it’s easier to talk when you’re walking side by side.

No pressure to make eye contact, just space to think, talk and breathe.

Ride and Talk

If being on your bike helps you feel more like yourself, we can explore meeting for a mountain bike ride in Bourne Woods, with time to stop and talk.

Meet Online

If leaving home feels difficult, we can begin online from somewhere you feel comfortable.

There’s no need to push yourself into something you’re not ready for

Hi, I’m Carolyn

Before becoming a therapist, I spent 30 years teaching music and discovering just how important it is for young people to feel heard, understood and accepted for who they are.

I’ve learnt that sometimes the most important thing we can offer another person isn’t advice or answers, but someone who is genuinely interested in their world.

That’s what I hope you’ll find with me.

I’m an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, which means I’m interested in all the different sides of you — including the ones that might feel anxious, angry, overwhelmed or unsure about being here.

I won’t be trying to turn you into someone else. I’d like to help you feel more at home with who you already are.

What If Things Could Feel Different?

Imagine feeling a little less at war with yourself.

Understanding why certain things make you anxious, angry or want to disappear from the world.

Finding it easier to speak up, connect with people, or simply get through a difficult day.

Therapy isn’t about making all your problems disappear. It’s about discovering that you have more choices, strengths and possibilities than you might realise.

And sometimes, when we begin to understand ourselves differently, life begins to feel different too.

You don’t have to feel hopeful yet. We can make room for hope together.

Not Sure Therapy Is for You?

You might be wondering whether talking to someone you don’t know could possibly help. Or perhaps someone else has suggested therapy and you’re not convinced.

That’s okay. You get to have your own feelings about it.

We can start with a conversation about what matters to you, what you’d like to be different, and whether working together feels right.

You can ask questions, take your time and decide whether you’d like to continue.

There’s no pressure to have everything figured out before you get in touch.
